TRUNK SHOWS, MUSIC SHOWS, AND 7 WEEKS IN MOROCCO

Hi friends,
So much has happened in the last two months! I just got back from 7 weeks in Morocco where everything went incredibly smoothly, in spite of all the moving parts. Literal moving parts, as I led two tours, bought 5 bundles of new rugs, and stayed in 12 different cities and 24 different locations.
My first tour was right at the end of Ramadan. I led a spring break trip for Claremont Graduate University students who were studying the business of art in Morocco. It was such an illuminating program -- we met some of the country's leading artists while visiting arts foundations, residency programs, and organizations that have shaped Moroccan culture for the last twenty years. I loved every second of this itinerary and would be
thrilled to continue offering programs like this in the future!
I followed that up with several weeks of rug sourcing and scouting for future Kantara Tours (did someone say eclipse 2027 😝😅) and then tied it all off with another Smithsonian trip. To say I was busy was an understatement, but the good news is that we're ready for our 2027 tours and we're all stocked up on gorgeous rugs, with fie more massive bundles on the way.
We also have a few events this month (scroll down for more details) and we'd love to see you, either at Kantara in Los Angeles for The Mynabirds concert on May 30th, or up in the Bay Area mid-month. In the meantime, here's a little photo journal from the road in Morocco.
x, Alia

These rugs arrived right before we left for Morocco and are worth highlighting due to their unique weave style, textures, and artistry!

This rug is a true piece of art, featuring mixed textures, between pile and zanafi weaving, in a vibrant purple and peach color! Put it on the floor, or hang it on a wall!
With its densely-woven, low pile, this rug blends a beautiful color palette together in an organic and rare wave-like pattern.
This Map of Africa rug is stunning. The olive green exterior is a thick, low-pile rug, while the interior is an indigo flatweave, featuring dozens of embroidered designs.

We'll be heading up to the Bay area for two trunk shows at Esqueleto this month. This first one is at their Mill Valley location, and the second one is in Oakland. If you're in the area, swing by -- we'll be bringing up a selection of new rugs, poufs, pillows, and vintage Moroccan blankets that we just got in stock!

Laura Bird of The Mynabirds will be wrapping up her spring West Coast tour with a show in our Kantara rug room! We're so excited to welcome her back into the space.
Last year, she kicked off our first musical soirée, the Microdose series with two other musicians. That afternoon was one of our favorite events in the shop -- it was such a pleasure to relax amidst the rugs, and take in her music as medicine!
Needless to say, we've been dreaming about having her back at Kantara ever since. We hope you can join us! Space is limited. Click the link below for tickets and more details.
